                                                       BOARD MEMBERS

 

Robert Barrell
Chairman Fund Board

 

Mr. Barrell is a UK qualified solicitor who chairs the Fund’s Board. He has worked in several legal firms in Jersey between 1991 to 1999 before becoming a partner/shareholder in REMAR FUND. He also assumed the position as General Counsel for International Finance Administration. This is an organization where he held responsibility for risk and compliance oversight of third-party administration services to a range of private equity, infrastructure and real estate funds. Furthermore, the structured finance vehicles with assets under management in excess of US$170 billion in the Channel Islands, UK, US, Ireland, Singapore, Luxembourg and Hong Kong.

 

From 2010 to 2012 he was head of the legal and corporate secretarial professionals. This was responsible for internal legal affairs and corporate and regulatory governance in the alternative investment services division in respect of its Jersey and Luxembourg fund administration services.

 

Mr. Barrell is currently an elected member of the Jersey Funds Association and its legal and technical sub-committee dealing with legislative, regulatory and practical issues facing the Jersey funds industry locally. He is also a member of Jersey Finance’s working party on the EU AIFMD Directive.

 

Moreover, Mr. Barrell is a director of a small number of Jersey domiciled European and Nordic buy-out/ development capital funds and two Cayman global macro-strategy hedge funds listed on the Irish Stock Exchange.

 

James Verri
Fund Director

 

Mr. Verri is a Director of the Fund, a Director of Bob & Co and a member of the Investment Adviser. He has extensive experience in strategy, finance, acquisitions, divestments and operations, all in the media and entertainment sector. Mr. Verri has undertaken key roles in both UK and overseas private and public companies. He has worked closely with the founders of these organizations, ensuring that their vision for their business and brand is fully executed.

 

Omar Daler
Head of Operations

 

Mr. Daler joined REMAR FUND in 2012 as Head of Operations. He graduated with an honors degree in Accountancy before qualifying as a chartered accountant with over 10 years of experience within the finance sector with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Daler has responsibility for a portfolio of clients and has extensive experience of listed and private investment funds. He is also a Director of the Administration.

 

David Steran
Asset Manager

 

Mr. Steran joined REMAR FUND in 2013 having previously worked as a manager specializing in the asset management sector in other primary entities. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1997 and has over ten years of experience in the finance sector. He has extensive experience of funds designed for the private client market and private equity funds. He has served as a committee member of the Jersey Funds Association. Mr. Steran is also a Director of the Administration.

Brian Covelli
Chairperson

 

Mr. Covelli is a CPA with a private practice in accounting, tax and financial planning. With more than 25 years of experience in public accounting, he has an extensive background in business operations, financing matters, business and real estate acquisitions and succession planning and tax minimization strategies. He earned a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, where he serves on the Federal Taxation and State Taxation interest groups. He is an associate financial advisor with Ameriprise Financial and is licensed in securities and health and life insurance.

 

Helen Persain
Vice-Chairperson

 

Ms. Persian has over 20 years’ experience as a mediator, facilitator, manager and policy analyst in private and public sector organizations. As a mediator in private practice, she has worked with a wide variety of public and private organizations. Ms. Persian was a Senior Manager at New Jersey Transit and the Founding Executive Director of New Jersey Future, appointed to the State Planning Commission by Governor James Florio and served as Director of Urban Programs at the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. She also held the position as Director of the Edison for the Economic Development Authority, New Jersey.

 

Peter Bercy
Certified Fraud Examiner 

 

Mr. Bercy has 20 years of proven leadership experience in the financial services industry. He is a former banking executive and mortgage broker with strong management experience in determining valuation and negotiating the purchase and sale of large multi-million-dollar investment portfolios. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), well versed in providing expert testimony and litigation support services. Mr. Bercy has demonstrated a record of success in resolving numerous financial, legal, compliance and risk issues for many banking institutions and municipalities throughout New Jersey.

William Taylor
Chief Investment Officer

 

Mr. Taylor, CFA and CPA, is the Chief Investment Officer of REMAR FUND based in Jersey. Prior to founding REMAR FUND in 2008, Mr. Taylor was employed by Axal Management, L.P. from 1996 through 2003 where he managed the portfolios of American listed securities. From 1994 through 1996, Mr. Taylor was the Director of Research at Globalinvest Management, which at the time was the largest American focused investment management firm in the world.  From 1988 through 1994 he was in charge of international and emerging market equity investments for the Investments Department of GHP Group.

 

Robert Harris
Portfolio Manager

 

Mr. Harris is a Portfolio Manager covering the materials sector. Prior to joining REMAR FUND in 2012, Mr. Harris worked for four years as an Equity Analyst at Azimut Capital Management and seven years as a sell-side analyst for Goldman Sachs, both covering American markets. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Florida State University.

 

George Allen
Chief Investment Analyst

 

Mr. Allen is an Investment Analyst covering the Transportation, Telecom, Malls and Real Estate sectors. Mr. Allen worked for three years as a trader and Jr. Portfolio Manager with J. Goldman & Co, a US long/short equity hedge fund. Prior to that, Mr. Allen worked for Goldman Sachs’ Equity Derivatives Trading desk in New York. Mr. Allen is a CFA charterholder and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from the University of Miami.

 

Jeff Moore
Chief Compliance Officer

 

Mr. Moore is the Chief Compliance Officer for REMAR FUND. He is in charge of ensuring that REMAR FUND is in compliance with the regulations required from Jersey Financial Services Commission (“JFSC”). Prior to joining REMAR FUND in 2011, he was the SEC Financial Reporting Manager for a public company in Plantation, FL. Nathan has five years of public accounting experience, the majority with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Chicago and compliance duties for Fortune 500 companies in South Florida. Mr. Moore holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from North Carolina, A&T State University.

 

Daniel Evans
Chief Trading Officer 

 

Mr. Evans is in charge of the trading activities for our portfolios.  Prior to joining REMAR FUND in 2012, he worked with Barney American Financial Advisors.  Mr. Evans holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Florida International University and has passed Level I of the CFA Program. 

 

Richard Martin
Director of Operations

 

Mr. Martin is the Director of Operations for REMAR FUND and is in charge of operations and the accounting for REMAR’s portfolios. Prior to joining REMAR FUND in 2010, he worked in the financial services practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers.  Mr. Martin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Central Florida and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Florida.

 

Susan Parker
Fund Accountant

 

Ms. Parker is the Fund Accountant for REMAR FUND and is responsible for the accounting for REMAR’s portfolios. Prior to joining REMAR FUND in 2014, she worked in the finance retail industry as an Accounting Manager, engaging in Financial Statement audits in the financial services, insurance and retail industries. Ms. Parker holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
